I have had one “motherboard?/chip?” Failure since then and it got replaced but this would have been covered under the one year limited warranty anyway (and I upgrade every year) I switched over to the IUP a few years ago (it’s automatically included) and it’s just a part of the package. After a while I realized that it wasn’t worth it for me to purchase outright anymore. I have owned every iPhone since the 3GS and got AC+ for a few phones (I think maybe 2/3 times - the good thing is that AC+ can be transferred over so it was a good selling point when I sold the phones). Just a different way to approach and measure your risk tolerance.
This doesn’t mean I am advocating for or against AC+. You really can’t predict when and if a product will fail - even if the manufacturer (ie Apple) has high standards. Not about how well you “baby” or take care of your devices. Never again will I place a drink near my MBP.ĪC+ is all about risk and managing that risk. Keyboard eventually worked fine but the display was ruined. My screen looked like it had permanent army camouflage. Liquid must have gotten into the display because there was smudges that wouldn't come off (I even tried a hair dryer) from the inner LCD. (My computer desk is right beside my bed) Woke up in the middle of the night, possibly tossing and turning, and I remember reaching over to my table and knocking the glass with watered down juice + vodka over, right onto my MBP keyboard. Looked like a work of art.Īfter about a month (maybe less?) of owning it, one night I decided to leave my glass with vodka + cranberry juice on the same table as my shiny new MBP. The 15" Space Grey with Touch Bar, I even upgraded it to a 2.7GHz i7, maxed out GPU and 1TB SSD. I haven't run on the battery for long enough to test that, but clearly it'll be fine.I bought my first-ever MacBook Pro. In Cinebench R23 the multi-core core score exceeds that of a 14-C iMac Pro. Running Cinebench R23, which repeatedly renders a photo image over about 10 minutes did cause the fans to wake up, but even so they're not loud, just present. Migrating 400+GB of content from the old MBP over TB never caused the fans on the new one to kick in, at least not that I could tell. The new speakers won't make you throw your studio monitors to the curb, but they're pretty good for a laptop - another benefit of the extra space around the case edges. Keyboard is great, although it'd be better with a case-colored grid between the keys rather than black. Notch, who cares? You're getting an extra 74 pixels of screen height over a regular 16:10 anyway. Wish Apple would get with the times and supply a compact GaN power supply. The new MagSafe is terrific, although I don't use it on a daily basis because I have a single TB cable link to a 27" 5K LG monitor, which also provides charging power, wired network, etc.
Nonetheless, the old one is better looking. So there's logic behind the new MBP's slightly chunky appearance. However eliminating the taper also opens up a lot of space inside, and makes the HDMI port and card slot possible. It's the lack of taper in the new MBP's top and bottom surfaces that no longer fools the eye. It's noticeably heavier and bulkier than my outgoing 2016 13" MBP, but while it looks thicker, it isn't.
